Steve Zenone

This is the B-side. The part between the drops.

I've been making electronic music since the warehouse rave scene in the early nineties. The question I keep coming back to isn't "how." It's "why does it work." Why does that kick hit differently in mono. Why the breakdown builds anticipation before the listener consciously knows it's building. Why one mix sounds like a room and another sounds like a file.

ZenOne Music is where I write about that. Mixing decisions, sound design and the architecture of trance. Technical enough to be useful. Personal enough to be honest.

What you'll get: essays on production and perception. No plugin sponsorships. No gear reviews. The stuff I actually think about when the session is open at 1 AM.

Subscribe if you want the how and the why, not just the what.

Also writing at Morphic (security, systems thinking and the patterns that run underneath everything), FirstOrder (leadership and human systems for people who've been in the expensive rooms) and Unbroken Bond (personal nonfiction about estrangement and the discipline of loving without leverage).

Euphoria Unleashed is out now. A book about the transformative power of trance music. Ebook is live. Print, Kindle and audiobook landing this month.
